DILIGENCE: AN ESSENTIAL PRINCIPLE FOR SUCCESS IN LIFE

Image
"Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men." - Proverbs 22:29.

It is a popular and quite correct saying that attitude determines ones altitude in life. A good attitude to life will enable people to make tremendous and outstanding achievements and get to the apex of life, while a bad attitude is like a flat tyre of an automobile that will delay and limit a person from making meaningful progress until it is changed. Attitude in itself has so many elements inclusive of humility, integrity, politeness, friendliness, trustworthiness, steadfastness, loyalty, zeal, diligence, faithfulness, thankfulness and many others. A deficiency of these elements in our attitude to life is bound to hamper our progress and success in life. A very key element for success in life is our attitude to work. It is our attitude that determines our productivity and boosts our efficiency at our work or task. A key element or principal attitu…

A WORD ON TRANSGENDERISM, SELF-ACCEPTANCE AND GOD

Image
"I will give thanks unto thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Wonderful are thy works; And that my soul knoweth right well". (Psalm 139: 14).

Some people over the years and centuries have expressed discontent over their physical constitution. They have expressed concerns about the size or shape of their body features. Sometimes people wished they had longer legs, thinner frames, shorter ear lobes, pointed nose, bluish eyes and so on and so forth. However, those who already have these features desired by others may themselves be seeking to having shorter legs, fatter body builds, wider ear lobes, flat nose and black eyes. Such has been the situation with many people all over the world. For many people, there is a silent desire in their hearts to be someone different from who they are now. They fancy being like some other person whom they feel have what they do not have. While for centuries, these desires were mere wishes and ended up as fantasies of the mind, progre…

PRISONERS OF THE BOOZE!

Image
I walked past a Beer Parlour one day and heard the song “I am a Prisoner”  sung by Late Lucky Dube, a popular South African Musician. I saw men and women sitted around tables with foaming bottles and glasses of Beer and all other alcoholic drinks littered on the tables, and  shaking their heads and tapping their feets, dancing to the music. Little did these men and women know the song was a true description of who they were. Little did they know that they were prisoners of the bottles. They were prisoners of that destructive liquid they had made their best friend. They had not realized they were prisoners of the brewers who drain their finances, ruin their marriages and homes and in the end take their livers and lives. Little did they know this is who they were…Prisoners!

Had they known they were prisoners of the booze, would they not have attempted a jail break? Had they known they were prisoners, would they not have sought a way of freedom from their imprisonment to the booze?  How…

IS YOUR HEART PURE?

Image
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” - Matthew 5:8.

It was an intriguing question the Psalms writer asked in Psalm 24 vs. 3, when he said “Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy place?” The answer to this question must have come to him by a deep revelation which he shares in the next verse. The only person that can ascend the hill of the LORD, and stand in His holy place is “He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully” (Psalm 24 vs. 4). Here in Matthew 5 vs. 8, our Lord Jesus Christ establishes the point beyond doubt, that it is only those with pure hearts that shall see God. Purity of heart is that one characteristic of those who shall have fellowship with God on this earth and be qualified to dwell with Him forever in heaven.

Why is this heart condition so important? you may ask. The heart is often used to describe the mind of man. Just as the heart functions…

SPONSORS NEEDED!

Image
“No man is an island”, was an adage I heard used in discussions when I was growing up. It was an expression made to convey the fact that all men need the support of their fellow men, and no one can successfully live in isolation. Although that expression may be going extinct with time as I rarely hear it used today, the meaning it conveys remains true all the time. Perhaps, the increase and rapid growth in technology today has got people so connected globally through mobile phones, internet, etc, such that the very idea of anyone living in isolation cannot be conceived. This expression also establishes the fact that every human endeavour requires support and sponsorship to thrive and be successful.
